Overview

We are currently inviting applications for qualified individuals interested in the Archives Assistant position at the Galt Museum & Archives.

Job Posting

STATUS: Non-Permanent Term (approximately 15 weeks)

HOURS OF WORK: 25 hours per week; includes a weekday schedule

PAY RATE: $34.91 per hour

 

The Galt Museum & Archives preserves and provides access to the historical records of the City of Lethbridge and Southwest Alberta. Under the supervision of Galt Archivist, the successful candidate will primarily work on arrangement and description projects.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Physically arrange records including rehousing, labeling, indexing, etc.
  • Apply preventative conservation measures
  • Conduct research using primary and secondary sources, including online research
  • Digitize photographs and audio-visual materials
  • Assist with archives outreach programs.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Progressing towards the completion of a post-secondary degree program in Humanities or Social Sciences at a Canadian university; or a recent graduate.
  • Hands-on experience working in a Canadian archival institution is an asset.
  • A high level of computer skill and digital fluency.
  • Excellent research skills and interest in archives and heritage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check (PIC) with the Lethbridge Police Service
