STATUS: Full Time, Term Up to 12 months
HOURS OF WORK: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with every third Friday off
In this role, you will: assist the Workplace Injury & Claims Supervisor in administering the WCB program, working to achieve a fair and balanced benefit and cost to the City of Lethbridge with respect to the Worker’s Compensation system. You will liaise with external and internal key parties that are impacted by workplace injury claims, and facilitate the early, safe, and sustainable return to work of employees on claims. This includes promotion of the return-to-work and stay-at-work programs; identification of modified work opportunities; matching employee restrictions to work placements; and ensuring the ongoing appropriateness of return-to-work plans.
By utilizing the knowledge of the City’s workplace injury experience, you will also assist in providing support to the Employee Wellness team by identifying opportunities to improve physical and psychological safety.
As the successful candidate, you are respected for your expertise in WCB processes and legislation and your commitment to best practices in disability management. This will be complemented by your ability to foster relationships that are collaborative, responsive and supportive, across a broad group of stakeholders that includes WCB, employees, business unit managers, unions and medical professionals. You are known for your substantial knowledge of WCB processes, as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skills. You will also possess advanced emotional intelligence to successfully engage stakeholders, deal effectively with ambiguity, and remain calm and neutral in conflict situations.
What You Bring to the Table
Qualifications & Experience:
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience and knowledge of WCB processes and case management
· Awareness of current evidence-based practices and treatment options
· Experience working with unionized and non-unionized employees will be considered an asset
· Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills, to successfully communicate with a variety of stakeholders and complete charting for files
· Strong decision-making abilities to:
o Identify gaps in medical documentation;
o Determine when to refer employees on claim to other case management team members;
o Identify additional treatments that would assist with medical recovery
· Effective risk identification and mitigation skills
· Successful experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
· The ability to successfully manage and adapt to multiple priorities on a daily basis
· Proficient computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite of applications

The pay range for this position is $44.63 to $55.81 per hour, commensurate with experience.
