STATUS: Non-Permanent Term (approximately 9 months until December 31, 2026)

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week

PAY RATE: $36.61 per hour


We’re seeking a Taxation Clerk to join our team in a term capacity. Reporting to the Property Tax Manager, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for customers, providing essential information and support, especially during high-demand tax seasons.


In this role, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by applying detailed knowledge of policies, legislation, and bylaws.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Municipal Government Act.
  • Provide clear, accurate guidance and solutions to ratepayers.
  • Respond promptly to taxation inquiries through various channels.
  • Prepare and manage information packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process adjustments, maintain tax accounts, and oversee tax sale registration files with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Efficiently handle Land Title Transfers, including downloading, importing, analyzing, and processing title transfers and mobile home updates.
  • Administer Tax Installment Pre-authorized Payment plans (TIPP) with accuracy.
  • Process penalty adjustments, tax transfers, and batches with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage Principal, Interest, and Tax (PIT) updates and revisions.
  • Assist with the Tax Notification, Tax Sale, and Personal Property Registration processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Generate necessary reports and summaries.
  • Support the department with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

What You Bring to the Table:

This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, and/or a National Advanced Certificate in Local Government. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum one year of professional experience in administrative or entry-level accounting.
  • Minimum one year of experience providing effective and courteous customer service, at times under challenging circumstances.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage high-volume tasks accurately.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and communicating complex regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Current working knowledge of property taxation procedures, policies, and operations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with Tempest, CAMA, IntelliSearch, GIS applications, and related software is an asset.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
