STATUS: Non-Permanent Term (Approximately 18 weeks from May 1 to September 6, 2026 with the possibility of extension)

POSITIONS: Up to five (5) positions available

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week; work schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends

PAY RATE: $30.14 per hour 


This position is visitor-focused and encompasses three main areas of responsibility that include interpreting, guiding, and facilitating a variety of public engagement services. This includes tours, programs and special events; maintaining public engagement spaces; and facilitating administrative services ranging from gift shop duties, through to admissions, event ticketing, membership, and opening & closing duties. These Attendant duties may extend to both the Museum and Fort Whoop-Up locations.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead Interpretive and skill-based activities through permanent and temporary exhibitions and oversee interpretive spaces, when applicable.
  • Assist programmers with school and community programs.
  • Assist with the development of content for programs and educational resources.
  • Respond to public inquiries, answering phones, and provide exhibition and collections information.
  • Assist facility rental clients to ensure events run smoothly, including set-up and dismantling of event areas.
  • Assist with Fort Whoop-Up animal coordination, gardening, and light cooking (per established regulations).
  • Sell merchandise, count inventory, and complete daily cash balancing.
  • Perform daily/weekly janitorial duties for the Fort (Interpretive Centre/Barracks).
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education and experience in human history and/or museum visitor services, Indigenous studies, education, tourism, public relations, or communication arts.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate is required.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building skills with experience in working with all age and cultural/ethnic groups.
  • Knowledge of regional history is an asset.
  • Articulate, concise and tactful communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Retail and sales experience, plus knowledge of POS systems.
  • Ability to move chairs and tables and work with a variety of audio/visual equipment as needed.
  • Fluency with Blackfoot and other languages is a strong asset.


Eligibility Requirements:

These positions may be funded, in part, through a grant. This opportunity is open to self-identifying First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and are between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. Candidates must have attended post-secondary school in the January-April 2026 semester and be planning to return in the Fall of 2026. Please note applicants must meet eligibility requirements from Young Canada Works, Canada Summer Jobs and/or Community Futures Treaty Seven.

Additional Information:
