Overview

The City of Lethbridge Recreation and Culture Department is accepting applications for a casual non-permanent position of Caretaker III at the Fritz Sick Centre and City Hall.

Working collaboratively with staff at the Fritz Sick Centre and City Hall, the successful candidate will provide guidance to patrons, directing them to designated facility areas and advising them on the rules and regulations governing facility use. They will ensure compliance with these rules and support general facility operations.

STATUS: Non-Permanent, Casual

HOURS OF WORK: 0-40 hours per week; shift work including days, evenings, and weekends is required

POSITIONS: Up to 2 positions available

PAY RATE: $33.20 per hour – Fritz Sick Centre; $32.43 per hour – City Hall


In this role, you will:

  • Direct patrons to designated facility locations
  • Advise patrons on the rules and regulations governing the use of facilities and ensure adherence.
  • Set up tables and chairs and other furniture as required
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, wet mopping, scrubbing floors, and waxing and polishing floors.
  • Operate heavy cleaning equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general cleaning of the facility.
  • Record attendance for rentals and drop-in programs
  • Provide assistance to rental groups as needed.
  • Perform minor servicing of HVAC, boilers and other related equipment.
  • Provide support as a Caretaker at other City of Lethbridge facilities in a relief capacity.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred.
  • WHMIS or equivalent workplace safety training and First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • At least one year of experience in building maintenance, cleaning, or facility support is required.
  • Experience with computers including the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience using basic maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of approved cleaning techniques and established health and safety procedures.
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to understand verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and bending as required.
