Overview

The City of Lethbridge Waste and Environment department has an opening for an Infrastructure Program Assistant to join us in a term position! As part of the Infrastructure Services group, you would be assisting a dedicated group of professionals with project work and initiatives, who have a passion for our environment, that are focused on customer needs, tangible, effective results and maintaining a supportive team environment.

STATUS: Full Time, Term – up to 4 months (approximately May 4th- August 29th, 2026)

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week

PAY RATE: $30.14 per hour

 

In this role, you will:

Provide administrative support on various projects that support the departments projects and activities. The position acts as an assistant resource on projects to compile information, prepare and present reports, complete site visits and support activities, events and programs.

  •  Complete clerical tasks to support various project work including collecting information from various sources, compiling information, preparing and presenting reports, and working with large amounts of data.
  • Drive to various site locations to complete analysis while documenting and reporting on the findings.
  • Support sustainability activities, events and programs by representing the department within the community, directing any inquiries to the appropriate avenue and completing overall clerical or event management activities.
  • Complete reporting and documentation with strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and professional presentation of information.
  • Escalate any questions or concerns to the assigned project members to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

 

What You Bring to the Table:

This position is great fit for someone who is pursuing their education in Environmental or Traditional Sciences, Management or Business and is looking to get some professional level project assistant experience during the summer months.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completion of some post-secondary education is required. Preference will be given to those who have completed a minimum of 2 – 3 years of an undergraduate or graduate program in a university or college program, majoring in Environmental or Traditional Sciences, Management or Business.
  • A valid class 5 license is required, and a Drivers Abstract that is satisfactory to the City of Lethbridge
  • Knowledge about recycling and recyclable materials, sustainability or contaminated sites would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience completing similar administrative tasks obtained through post-secondary education assignment work.
  • Strong skills in using various computer software including Microsoft Office products.  
  • Ability to use various hardware, GPS familiarity would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent relationship building skills that are collaborative, responsive and supportive.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in oral and written English and demonstrate good listening skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with general office computer use and basic troubleshooting.

  • Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
  1. Impaired Driving related offence
  2. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  3. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
  4. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
  5. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
  6. Careless Driving
