Overview
Lethbridge Transit has a career-building opportunity for two (2) permanent Transit Demand Response/Paratransit (AAR) Operators. The Transit Demand Response/Paratransit (AAR) Operator, under the leadership of the Transit Operations Manager, will be responsible for ensuring that transit services are delivered safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on customer service excellence.

STATUS: Full Time Permanent
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
PAY RATE: Start Rate: $30.83 per hour (2026 start rate – first 2080 hours threshold)
Job Rate: $34.26 per hour (2026 job rate – after 2080 hours threshold successfully met)
In this role, you will:
- Operate assigned transit vehicles in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner.
- Follow all safety and traffic rules while strictly adhering to time schedules.
- Perform fare collection using an electronic fare collection system.
- Ensure customers are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Support a safe, healthy, supportive, and productive work environment.
- Report to work reliably and punctually.
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Carry out other related duties as required to ensure smooth Transit operations.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Class 4 Operator’s license.
- Demonstrate a high regard for delivering the greatest level of customer service.
- Superior driving and vehicle maneuvering skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive setting.
- Ability to plan, organize, and make sound judgments.
- Adaptable, flexible, and solution-oriented with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to take initiative and contribute effectively to a team environment or individually.
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work shift work, including evenings and weekends.
- Physical strength and dexterity to perform job duties including lifting and maneuvering wheelchairs and assisting passengers.
Required for the position:
All successful applicants under consideration will be required to successfully complete and pass a Police Information Check conducted by Lethbridge Regional Police Service.

The City of Lethbridge reserves the right to determine what is a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
An unacceptable driving record includes, but is not limited to:
- A record of any suspension of Operator’s License within the preceding three years which is related to a driving offence.
- An overall driving history that reflects poor driving behavior, will be determined at the discretion of the City.
- Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
- Impaired Driving related offence
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
- Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
- Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
- Careless Driving
If you are a current City of Lethbridge employee, depending on the circumstances of your current position, you may also be required to provide a five-year Commercial OR Non-Commercial Driver’s Abstract as part of the recruitment process.
