Lethbridge Transit has a career-building opportunity for two (2) permanent Transit Demand Response/Paratransit (AAR) Operators. The Transit Demand Response/Paratransit (AAR) Operator, under the leadership of the Transit Operations Manager, will be responsible for ensuring that transit services are delivered safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on customer service excellence.

STATUS: Full Time Permanent

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week

PAY RATE:           Start Rate: $30.83 per hour (2026 start rate – first 2080 hours threshold)

                            Job Rate: $34.26 per hour (2026 job rate – after 2080 hours threshold successfully met)

In this role, you will:

• Operate assigned transit vehicles in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner.
• Follow all safety and traffic rules while strictly adhering to time schedules.
• Perform fare collection using an electronic fare collection system.
• Ensure customers are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Support a safe, healthy, supportive, and productive work environment.
• Report to work reliably and punctually.
• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Carry out other related duties as required to ensure smooth Transit operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Class 4 Operator’s license.
• Demonstrate a high regard for delivering the greatest level of customer service.
• Superior driving and vehicle maneuvering skills.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive setting.
• Ability to plan, organize, and make sound judgments.
• Adaptable, flexible, and solution-oriented with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to take initiative and contribute effectively to a team environment or individually.
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work shift work, including evenings and weekends.
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform job duties including lifting and maneuvering wheelchairs and assisting passengers.

Required for the position:

1. Impaired Driving related offence
2. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
3. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
4. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
5. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
6. Careless Driving
