Overview

There is an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Parts Technician to join our team of professionals with the Procurement department. Reporting to the Inventory Management Supervisor, the Fleet Parts Technician will be responsible for timely and cost-effective acquisition and distribution of parts and supplies required for the maintenance of our facilities. This position will negotiate with a variety of vendors to secure preferred pricing, warranty, and delivery specifications for parts and supplies, as well as manage a computerized inventory control system that is efficient and responsive to the needs of the department.

STATUS: Non-Permanent Term (24 months)

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week

PAY RATE: $44.46 per hour

 

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct research, including the use of online catalogues, to determine the best options for parts and supplies.
  • Prepare and process requisitions, purchase orders, and work orders.
  • Record and maintain daily Fleet service data.
  • Record and monitor the rebuilt parts inventory.
  • Conduct inventory counts.
  • Participate in Fleet planning.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Journey Person Parts Technician designation is required.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience in a parts or inventory control role, preference will be given to individuals with experience in Heavy Duty/Automotive repair settings.
  • Valid Alberta class 5 Drivers’ license.
  • Considerable experience working independently in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships and provide direction to team members.
  • Superior negotiating skills .
  • Working knowledge of computerized inventory and work management systems and their applications; experience using JD Edwards software is an asset.
  • Proven ability to multi-task with strong time management skills.
  • Well established attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The physical ability to operate hand tools, pallet jacks, hoists, forklifts, and cranes in distributing parts and supplies.

  • Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
  1. Impaired Driving related offence
  2. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  3. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
  4. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
  5. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
  6. Careless Driving

 

If you are a current City of Lethbridge employee, depending on the circumstances of your current position, you may also be required to provide a five-year Commercial OR Non-Commercial Driver’s Abstract as part of the recruitment process.
