Parking
Operations is looking to hire one (1) Parking Enforcement Officer to assist
with parking enforcement within
the City of Lethbridge. Under the supervision of the Parking Coordinator, the
Parking Enforcement Officer
performs on-street and off-street parking enforcement services. Parking
Enforcement Officers are front line
staff who interact with the public daily and must provide a high level of
customer service. Front line
staff are required to work in all weather conditions and maintain a
professional demeanour in all situations.
Job Posting
STATUS: Full Time, Term up to 9 months, with the possibility of extension
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, evening and weekend shifts will be required
PAY RATE: $30.14 per hour
In this role, you will:
- Utilize parking enforcement technology to ensure vehicles are in adherence to Traffic Bylaw
- Collect qualitative and quantitative evidence (photographic images, measurements, vehicle information, situational details)
- Issue parking violations for vehicles parked in contravention of Traffic Bylaw
- The position requires using monitors, computers and other equipment for extended periods of time
- Respond to calls for service about parking infractions around the City of Lethbridge
- Take appropriate measures to resolve parking infractions
- Enforce Traffic Bylaw as it pertains to parking
- Attend and testify in provincial court
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience interpreting bylaws and legal procedures, security work or other applicable related experience is required
- Preference will be given to applicants who have experience writing parking violations with license plate recognition and handheld parking enforcement software
- Demonstrated ability to deliver strong customer service and be an example of the City of Lethbridge values
- Ability to be sworn under the City of Lethbridge Traffic Bylaw is required
- Experience working in a stressful environment, navigating conflict and/or position of authority
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, walk for extended periods of time (8hrs), drive for extended periods of time (8hrs)
- Other required skills: strong communication, reading/writing skills, basic computer/smart phone
- Applicants must have a valid, unrestricted Class 5 Operator’s license and a Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the City of Lethbridge
- This position will include shift work, evening and weekend work is required
- Applicants will be required to provide a police information check satisfactory to the City of Lethbridge prior to employment

An unacceptable driving record includes, but is not limited to:
• A record of any suspension of Operator’s License within the preceding three years which is related to a driving offence.
• An overall driving history that reflects poor driving behavior, will be determined at the discretion of the City.
• Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
a. Impaired Driving related offence
b. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
c. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
d. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
e. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
f. Careless Driving
If you are a current City of Lethbridge employee, depending on the circumstances of your current position, you may also be required to provide a five-year Commercial OR Non-Commercial Driver’s Abstract as part of the recruitment process.
