STATUS: Casual – up to 10 months  

HOURS OF WORK: Approximately 18 hours per week

 

In this role, you will: assist in coordinating and implementing chronic disease prevention programs. Annual Influenza Immunization Program, and other employee health and wellness promotion events. You will provide health coaching to employees regarding lifestyle and/or illness and injury concerns and participate on various workplace committees relating to health and wellness. This will include developing presentations; information and education material; and health-related process information. You will work with members of the disability management team to assist in the development of medical recovery plans and return to work programs.

 

As the successful candidate, you will be known as a champion for empowering individuals to optimize their healthy lifestyle choices. This will be complemented by your ability to foster relationships that are collaborative, responsive and supportive, across a broad group of interested parties that include employees, business unit managers, unions, and other health & wellness program providers. You have substantial knowledge of effective programming and service delivery, as well as effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

 

What You Bring to the Table

Qualifications & Experience:

·         A Registered Nurse designation, with current registration status. Preference will be given to those with Mental Health and Addiction experience

·         Medical assessment skills and interpretation skills in areas such as blood and blood pressure monitoring, body composition, and general nutrition

·         Preference will be given to those who have experience working with unionized and non-unionized employees in a corporate setting

·         General understanding of occupational health guidelines and first aid issues

·         Experience in mental health and health promotion and disease prevention

·         Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills, to successfully communicate with a variety of stakeholders

·         Strong decision-making abilities to identify evidence-based information for educational resources; and making appropriate referrals for treatment of injured employees

·         Successful ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

·         Effective risk identification and mitigation skills

·         The ability to successfully manage and adapt to multiple priorities

·         Proficient computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite of applications

The pay range for this position is $44.63 to $55.81 per hour, commensurate with experience.
