STATUS: Full Time, Seasonal – duration dependent on operational requirements
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
- Please note: During spring and summer season, the successful candidate may be scheduled to support the nighttime street sweeping or night patching operation. (8 Hour shift between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.)
PAY RATE: $30.14 per hour
In this role, you will:
- Operate trucks ranging from ½ ton through to and including tandem dump truck
- Complete pre-trip inspections, routine servicing and minor maintenance of equipment
- Support crack sealing and paving operation with manual labour tasks including raking and shoveling
- Other Transportation Operations related duties as required
What You Bring to the Table
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED/CAEC), and a valid class 3Q Operator’s license
- A minimum of 1 year’s class 3 driving experience is required
- Previous experience in the safe and proficient operation of the types of equipment and manual labour noted above. Experience operating any other road maintenance equipment will be considered an asset
- Previous experience and familiarity with load securement and safe loading practices
- Alberta Temporary Traffic Control (ATTC) Training, and/or current certification in Defensive Driving would be considered an asset
- The ability to work shift work
- The ability to work independently with minimal direction within a team setting
- Excellent driving and manoeuvring skills in a variety of extreme weather conditions, heavy traffic and congested work site areas
- Mechanical aptitude to successfully perform routine servicing and minor maintenance
- Physical strength and dexterity to perform work under changing weather conditions
- All other transportation operations related duties

The City of Lethbridge reserves the right to determine what is a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
An unacceptable driving record includes, but is not limited to:
• A record of any suspension of Operator’s License within the preceding three years which is related to a driving offence.
• An overall driving history that reflects poor driving behavior, will be determined at the discretion of the City.
• Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial driving conviction including:
a. Impaired Driving related offence
b. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
c. Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
d. Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
e. Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
f. Careless Driving
